You need a list. That’s a given. It’s the number one key to opening the success floodgates. Once you have a list built, you can market to it again and again. Just push a button and print money – literally.

There are 3 factors in list building you need to consider:

• The Incentive
• Your Confirmation Page

Your Landing Page – The squeeze page is the first thing your visitor is going to see. This is where they will enter their email address. So, obviously it has to be well designed. It’s also got to be free from distractions. And your call to action must be clear!

Failure to include a great “call to action” will result in failure. This is a definitive message that tells your visitor what to do. You opt-in rates will take a dramatic nose dive without it. The funny thing is that people just don’t know what to do unless you tell them.

One way to really spice up your squeeze page is to make it a video squeeze page. You only have a few second to get your visitors attention – video helps! And you can repeat the call to action several times int he video. And you can have the video just tell them to fill in your form after it’s done playing.

The Incentive – The next thing you need is an incentive to subscribe to your list. People need a good reason to part with their email address. Email privacy is very important to most people. This means your bribe needs to be very attractive.

The key to a good bribe is that is has value. That means you make it something people would actually want to receive. And can benefit from. A few ideas:

• An eBook
• Software
• Videos
• An email series

It all boils down to content. And make it both helpful and informative. It goes without saying it must be free. But to get the email, it’s got to be a good offer.
